The merge is around the corner. This monumental upgrade will change Ethereum from a Proof-of-Work blockchain to a Proof-of-Stake chain. With all the improvements to throughput, scalability, environmental impact, and network design the Merge also brings up some challenges. The Merge is similar to repairing an airplane while its in flight. Only time will tell how this upgrade impacts Ethereum overall.
Point is – Ethereum is getting rebuilt from the ground up. There are fundamental changes to Etheruem’s architecture on the horizon which may pave the way for new or different flavors of Ethereum to win market share. It’s still too early to tell which hard-forks could come as a result of the Merge; yet its not too early for power users and developers to start thinking about how they want their blockchain-of-choice to be designed.
